Mobile Automotive Technician - South East
Join Our Team as a Mobile Vehicle Technician
Welcome to a New Era of Mobile Repair!
About the Role
As a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division, you will be part of a fast-growing team dedicated to delivering planned, structured repairs and servicing directly to our members. This role is distinct from traditional roadside assistance, focusing instead on scheduled jobs that allow you to work at your own pace.
What You Can Expect
- Your day begins with a clear digital schedule of pre-booked jobs.
- Perform routine servicing and diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
- Conduct in-depth repairs typically done in a workshop.
- Provide members with advice and recommendations based on inspections.
- Carry out vehicle safety checks aligned with our standards.
With a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, and advanced diagnostics tools at your disposal, you’ll be empowered to deliver quality service efficiently.
Why Choose SMR?
- Enjoy planned appointments instead of emergency responses.
- Experience a consistent workflow without unpredictable demands.
- Focus on in-depth repairs rather than temporary fixes.
- Have the time and support to do the job properly.
- Utilize our mobile service platform for clear scheduling.
What You’ll Need
- Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
- A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
Working Conditions
- Competitive base salary of £40,170, with on-target earnings of up to £52,000.
- Guaranteed overtime options to increase your earnings.
- 40 hours per week, with core hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and 1 in 4 Saturdays.
Benefits
- Earnings That Motivate: Market-competitive salary with opportunities for bonuses and premium-rate overtime.
- Opt-in Guaranteed Overtime: Choose to work extra days at £30 per hour, potentially earning an additional £3,000 to £5,000 per year.
- Tools to Drive Your Future: Free RAC Ultimate Complete Breakdown Service and access to a car salary sacrifice scheme after 12 months.
- Time Off That Matters: 23 days of holiday (rising to 25 with service) plus bank holidays.
- Financial Security & Perks: Pension scheme with matched contributions and life assurance cover.
- Wellbeing That Works for You: 24/7 confidential support service available for you and your household.
- Extras That Make a Difference: Access to exclusive discounts and a share scheme after probation.
Opportunities for Growth
We are committed to your ongoing development, including future training in electric vehicle and diagnostic skills. This role offers the independence and variety you seek, all while being part of a trusted national organization.
Who Thrives Here?
If you are not only skilled with tools but also excel in customer interactions, this role is for you. Our Mobile Vehicle Technicians are the face of our service, providing reassurance and high-quality service directly to our members.
