CG Supervisor
The CG Supervisor leads the day-to-day CG work on the show, ensuring clear technical and creative communication, reliable delivery, and alignment with the VFX Supervisor’s creative vision. Working closely with department HODs and the Head of VFX, they maintain artistic cohesion, ensure effective inter-department handoffs, and escalate risks or blockers early.
Requirements
Duties:
- Act as a key enabler of the VFX Supervisor’s creative vision, ensuring it is clearly understood and consistently delivered across CG disciplines.
- Oversee CG delivery across shots, sequences, or shows, ensuring work meets creative, technical, and workflow standards.
- Lead and support CG artists through clear direction, feedback, and mentorship, escalating resourcing or performance concerns when required.
- Provide clear creative guidance early to help teams converge on strong solutions, reducing unnecessary iteration.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the CG pipeline, ensuring data consistency, good scene structure, and reliable handoffs between departments.
- Drive CG dailies and rounds, evaluating work for creative intent, continuity, and technical compliance before downstream delivery.
- Work closely with all relevant departments, Production and pipeline to maintain alignment, efficient workflows, and clear expectations.
- Identify and resolve CG-related blockers, supporting scheduling, delivery planning, and early risk management.
- Contribute to pipeline evaluation and improvement, identifying opportunities for workflow optimisation, automation, and tooling.
Skills, attributes and experience:
- Strong cross-discipline CG experience across animation, FX, lighting, and environments
- Solid technical understanding of Maya, Houdini, and Nuke
- Strong grasp of CG-to-comp handoffs, scene structure, and data management
- Strong creative judgement with the ability to guide teams toward effective solutions, not just requests for revisions
- Proven ability to lead teams while balancing creative and technical priorities
- Clear and effective communicator with artists, supervisors, and production
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills across multiple deliverables
- Solutions-focused, adaptable, and calm under pressure
- Driven to improve workflows and standards with pragmatism and humility
