Spanish Teacher | Comprehensive Academy | London Borough...
CORE PURPOSE
We require an ambitious, linguistically expert Spanish Teacher to deliver high-quality Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The role involves facilitating a rigorous, communicative curriculum that deepens grammatical precision, phonetic accuracy, and cultural literacy, preparing pupils thoroughly for terminal public examinations and global citizenship.
KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Curriculum Design & Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver highly structured, target-language rich Spanish lessons that challenge pupils across all technical and academic abilities.
Linguistic Skills Development: Systematically develop pupils' skills across the four core pillars of language acquisition: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, whilst embedding robust vocabulary retrieval routines.
Academic Progress Monitoring: Implement rigorous formative assessment and regular speaking diagnostics, utilising pupil tracking data to design sharp, targeted interventions that bridge learning gaps.
Examination Preparation: Guide Key Stage 4 cohorts systematically through the demands of terminal GCSE Spanish specifications, focusing heavily on translation mechanics, spontaneous speech, and extended writing structures.
Pastoral Care Integration: Undertake full form tutor responsibilities, managing daily registration, monitoring pupil attendance, and delivering the school's structured personal development units.
ENVIRONMENT & STRUCTURE
Academy Framework: Operating within a forward-thinking multi-academy trust, our school combines a robust, data-led approach to student progress with extensive professional development networks, providing collaborative department planning and structured pathways designed to accelerate teacher growth.
Behaviour Systems: The campus implements highly consistent, school-wide behaviour routines that maintain a quiet, respectful, and orderly atmosphere, ensuring modern language classrooms remain calm, predictable, and highly focused environments for interactive learning.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Spanish or Modern Foreign Languages.
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress outcomes in terminal public GCSE examinations through explicit, engaging, and highly structured language pedagogy.
Routine Implementation: The ability to execute school behaviour policies with absolute consistency, maintaining a positive, highly focused, and supportive classroom culture.
REGIONAL CONTEXT
Suburban Greenery & East London Enterprise: Situated in the outer London Borough of Havering, the school operates within a unique region that bridges vibrant East London commercial developments with expansive, picturesque Essex green belt parklands and family-focused residential communities.
Connectivity: The area offers premier London transport infrastructure, providing seamless travel via major trunk networks including the A12, A127, and close proximity to the M25 orbital motorway, alongside exceptional rail operations running smoothly across the borough via the Elizabeth Line, Greater Anglia mainline services, and the District Line tube network—offering rapid links straight through central London, Liverpool Street, and Essex.
