Promotional Medical Writer

Ogilvy Health is seeking a talented and experienced Promotional Medical Writer to join our creative team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven individual to make a significant impact across a diverse portfolio of healthcare accounts, including pivotal work in oncology, nutrition, and endocrinology. You will be instrumental in developing high-impact promotional materials that resonate with healthcare professionals, patients, and other key stakeholders. Your expertise will help shape the communication strategies for groundbreaking treatments and vital health initiatives. We offer a hybrid work environment that balances collaboration with independent work. Join us in the office every Tuesday and Wednesday for team meetings, agency updates, brainstorming, and client interactions. We also dedicate the third Friday of each month to in-person collaboration and team building.
What You'll Do
- Develop a wide range of promotional materials, including but not limited to: Sales aids and leave-behinds, Website copy and digital content (banners, social media posts), Email campaigns and e-details, Conference materials (booth graphics, abstracts, presentations), Video scripts and storyboards etc.
- Distil intricate scientific and medical data into clear, concise, and persuasive language that is both accurate and engaging.
- Work meticulously within regulatory guidelines (e.g., ABPI Code of Practice, FDA regulations) and client-specific medical/legal/regulatory (MLR) review processes.
- Work closely with account teams, art directors, strategists, and medical reviewers to develop integrated campaigns that meet client objectives and exceed expectations.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior writers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
- Contribute to the development of communication strategies, bringing a strong understanding of target audiences and communication objectives.
- Conduct thorough research to understand therapeutic areas, competitor landscapes, and target audience needs.
- Confidently present creative concepts and rationale to internal teams and clients.
- Proven experience as a promotional writer within a healthcare communications agency
- Demonstrable experience writing for a variety of therapeutic areas
- A strong understanding of scientific principles and the ability to quickly grasp complex medical information. A life sciences degree (e.g., BSc, MSc, PhD in Biology, Pharmacology, Medicine, etc.) is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical industry regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., ABPI, FDA).
- Impeccable grammar, spelling, and punctuation, with a flair for creative and persuasive writing.
- Meticulous approach to accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to understand client objectives and translate them into effective communication solutions.
- A team player who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Confident and articulate in presenting ideas.
- Any therapeutic area experience within oncology and/or dermatology would be a plus for this role
- We'd love to see a strong portfolio showcasing a range of promotional healthcare writing samples.
