EYFS Graduate Teaching Assistant

Location: West Ealing, London Borough of Ealing
Pay: £600–£650 per week
Contract: Full-time, term-time only
Start date: ASAP
Duration: Minimum one-year contract, with the opportunity to become permanent

Are you an Early Childhood Studies graduate or a CACHE Level 3-qualified Nursery Nurse with a passion for early years education?

KPI Education is recruiting a caring, enthusiastic and dependable EYFS Graduate Teaching Assistant for a welcoming primary school in West Ealing. The position will begin as soon as possible and continue for at least one year, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

The school welcomes applications from candidates who have previously worked in a private nursery, primary school, preschool or another early years setting.

The school

This diverse community primary school educates children from Nursery through to Year 6. Its Early Years Foundation Stage is committed to giving every child a happy, secure and confident start to school life.

The EYFS team creates stimulating learning experiences that encourage children to play, explore, think creatively and become increasingly independent. Nursery and Reception pupils learn across carefully organised indoor and outdoor environments, with activities designed around their individual interests, experiences and developmental needs.

The school is focused on developing its early years provision and strengthening outcomes in communication, language, phonics and school readiness. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute ideas, apply your early years knowledge and make a visible difference to children at a crucial stage of their development.

The school also has specialist provision for pupils with additional needs, creating valuable opportunities to develop experience in inclusive practice and SEND support.

The role

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher and wider early years team to support children in Nursery or Reception.

You will help create a safe, nurturing and engaging environment in which children feel confident trying new activities, communicating their ideas and developing positive relationships.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting children across the seven areas of EYFS learning and development
  • Planning and preparing purposeful play-based activities
  • Supporting communication, language and vocabulary development
  • Delivering early phonics, reading and number activities
  • Leading focused learning with individual children and small groups
  • Encouraging children to develop independence, confidence and resilience
  • Modelling positive communication, sharing and turn-taking
  • Supporting children’s personal, social and emotional development
  • Helping children manage routines, transitions and expectations
  • Observing children and recording their learning and progress
  • Identifying where children may require additional support or challenge
  • Supporting children with SEND, including pupils with autism
  • Preparing stimulating indoor and outdoor learning areas
  • Supervising children safely during play, lunchtimes and outdoor activities
  • Assisting with personal care when required
  • Developing positive relationships with parents and carers
  • Following all safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and senior leaders

About you

This position would be particularly suitable for:

  • An Early Childhood Studies graduate
  • A CACHE Level 3-qualified Nursery Nurse or Early Years Practitioner
  • A graduate with a relevant childcare, education or psychology qualification
  • A candidate with experience in a private nursery or preschool
  • A candidate who has previously supported EYFS pupils in a primary school

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a genuine passion for working with children in Nursery or Reception
  • Understand how young children learn through purposeful play and exploration
  • Have knowledge of the EYFS framework and its seven areas of learning
  • Communicate warmly and confidently with children, colleagues and families
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy and emotional maturity
  • Be creative, energetic and willing to contribute new ideas
  • Have excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • Be comfortable supporting personal care where necessary
  • Be committed to inclusion and meeting individual needs
  • Be reliable and available for a full-time, term-time-only position
  • Be able to start as soon as possible

What the position offers

  • Competitive weekly pay of £600–£650
  • A full-time, term-time-only schedule
  • An initial contract lasting at least one year
  • The opportunity to secure a permanent position
  • Practical experience across Nursery or Reception
  • Support from experienced teachers and early years practitioners
  • Opportunities to develop skills in phonics, early language and child development
  • Valuable experience supporting children with SEND
  • A welcoming and diverse school community
  • Immediate interview availability

This is a rewarding opportunity for a qualified Nursery Nurse or Early Childhood Studies graduate to support young children during one of the most important stages of their education.
