Air Operational Training Infrastructure So1

A vacancy has arisen for a Wing Commander (Aircrew Pilot / WSO (Any)) to serve as SO1 Operational Training Infrastructure at RAF High Wycombe on Full Time Reserve Service (Full Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of being 01 June 2026 (or earlier/later subject to candidate status).

Brief description of role:

This is an opportunity to play a pivotal leading role in delivering several critical aspects of the RAFs current Air Collective Training Strategy and support transition to the Next Generation Operational Training construct under the MUSTANG portfolio.

- Responsible for Lead Contract Management including tracking and Holding to Account of IRAATS and IMSORTS contracts until NGRA contracts are finalised.

- Line Management of personnel and budgetary responsibility for the John Collier Facility and Lawson Centre until MUSTANG Project 4 (NG EXCON) delivers

- Line Manager Responsibilities include delivering Contracts for INZPIRE and DRAKEN support as well as those within Reserves and Regular Service.

- Co-Secretary of the Joint Governance Innovation Board a 1* co-chaired Steering Group which coheres and directs allocation of resource and ad hoc adaptation of the IMSORTS contract.

- Line Manager of Whole Force team that deliver the Joint Service Air Tasking Organisation (JSATO) who operationalise the IMSORTS and IRAATS contracts to service RAF and RN customers.

- Lead the OTI workstrand within the Combat Air Interoperability Working Group a CAF/USAFE Working Group.

- Ensuring that OTI risks are identified assessed and managed by DLOD and escalated to Comdt ASWC if necessary.

- Present at the Air Maritime Operational Training Infrastructure Working Gp in support of FOST.

- Lead ASWC work-strands within NATO to drive commonality interoperability and efficiency between Adversary solutions and NATO customers.

- Developing and maintaining close working relationships as required with Air Cap Del Combat Air Force within ASWC HQ 1 Gp HQ 11 Gp RAF Spadeadam Aggressor Sqn NATO and Industry partners especially DRAKEN and INZPIRE.

- SME input into Portfolio MUSTANG and other Air Cap workstands as required.
