Estates Officer

Catch 22 are recruiting for a proactive and motivated Estates Officer based in Orpington, South East London. The salary for this vacancy is £28,000 - £31,000 per annum (depending on experience) working 39 hours per week. Shift times will be Monday to Friday either (Apply online only) or (Apply online only) with some out of hours required for emergency call outs. As this role is based within the education sector, an Enhanced DBS check is required. Candidates must either hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to obtain one prior to starting employment. About the role You will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, compliant and welcoming environment for our learners, staff and visitors. Working as part of the Estates team, you will undertake planned and reactive maintenance, PPM, building and plant inspections and statutory compliance checks. You will respond to estates emergencies, manage work through our Service Desk/CAFM system and help ensure issues are resolved safely and effectively. You will also coordinate and monitor contractors, including access, inductions, RAMS and permits to work, and ensure work is completed safely and to the required standard. This is a hands-on role with real responsibility. You will be expected to take ownership of your workload, identify and address risks and defects proactively and, when required, provide day-to-day operational coordination of Estates activities in the absence of the Estates Operations Manager Skills & Experience Required Previous experience in estates, facilities or building maintenance. Knowledge of building fabric, mechanical and electrical systems. Practical skills in decorating, carpentry and plumbing repairs. Experience of PPM, statutory compliance and contractor management. Familiarity with CAFM/service desk systems and basic IT skills. A proactive, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and customer service skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team. A Health & Safety qualification (or willingness to work towards one). Flexibility to work shifts and participate in an on-call rota. A full UK driving licence. Must live within a reasonable commute of Orpington to support emergency call-outs. Essential Requirements Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one. Full UK Driving Licence Ability to participate in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.
