Position: Split Role Learning Support Assistant (ASD)

Year Groups: EYFS (Morning) and Year 1 (Afternoon)

About Us:

Join our vibrant and inclusive primary school located in Haringey, North London. We are currently seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a unique split role. In this position, you will provide essential 1:1 support to two pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Both pupils are in different year groups, one in EYFS (morning) and the other in Year 1 (afternoon). This is a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on the educational journeys of these young learners.

Role Overview:

Your role as a Split Role Learning Support Assistant will be to work closely with two pupils, one in the morning session in EYFS and the other in the afternoon session in Year 1. Both pupils have ASD and require non-violent support to engage with their learning effectively.

Responsibilities:

Morning (EYFS):

  • Offer one-to-one support to the pupil with ASD in EYFS during the morning session.

  • Assist with daily tasks and learning activities, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Collaborate with the EYFS team to implement individualised support strategies.

  • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the pupil's specific needs and learning style.

  • Provide regular feedback on the pupil's progress and report any challenges or developments.

  • Encourage social interactions and positive relationships with peers.

  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning space for the pupil.

Afternoon (Year 1):

  • Learning support assistant to offer one-to-one support to the pupil with ASD in Year 1 during the afternoon session.

  • Learning support assistant to assist with daily tasks and learning activities, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Learning support assistant to collaborate with the Year 1 team to implement individualised support strategies.

  • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the pupil's specific needs and learning style.

  • Learning support assistant to provide regular feedback on the pupil's progress and report any challenges or developments.

  • Encourage social interactions and positive relationships with peers.

  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning space for the pupil.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience as an LSA or working with children with ASD is advantageous.

  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting children with special educational needs.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • Adaptability to tailor support to the unique requirements of each pupil.

  • A genuine passion for enhancing the educational experience of children with ASD.
