Business Analyst - Trading
About InvestEngine
InvestEngine is everything the modern investor should need. Unbeatable value, market-leading automation, and built for easy, long-term investing. We’ve built a strong foundation, have over £2.5 billion invested, award-winning service, and a passionate team, now we’re ready to scale.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Business Analyst to join our Trading team. You’ll be working on trading and custody-related initiatives, leading discovery, shaping requirements, and ensuring smooth delivery into engineering within a regulated fintech environment.
This role is ideal for someone who’s analytical, structured, and proactive, with strong ownership of discovery and the ability to translate complex regulatory and trading requirements into clear, actionable plans.
You’ll work closely with engineers, product managers, compliance, operations, and custody teams, and have the autonomy to own solutions from end to end — from early-stage technical scoping through to delivery handover.
What You’ll Do
Lead discovery for trading and custody projects, turning ambiguous problems into clear plans and prioritised backlogs
Define and document technical scoping (must-have), including system interactions, data flows, and feasibility considerations
Produce development-ready requirements, including acceptance criteria, process maps, and compliance considerations
Create structured discovery briefs outlining problem statements, options, regulatory constraints, and recommended solutions
Coordinate across Compliance, Operations, Custody, and Engineering to ensure alignment before build starts
Support vendor evaluation and integration workstreams, including gap analysis and integration documentation
Analyse current systems and processes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement
Contribute to projects such as trade netting, settlement optimisation (T+1), and trading/vendor changes
What We’re Looking For
5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst within financial services, ideally across trading, custody, or settlement domains
Strong experience with technical scoping and working with engineering teams on system design and integrations
Solid understanding of data flows, APIs, and system architecture (sufficient to challenge and collaborate with engineers)
Excellent analytical and documentation skills (process mapping, requirements, gap analysis)
Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience working in regulated environments, with awareness of compliance and audit considerations
Proven ability to independently own discovery and deliver high-quality outputs
English fluency (C1 level and above) — we are a UK-based company, and the role involves regular communication with the team
Nice to Have
Experience with third-party vendor integrations (evaluation, onboarding, and documentation)
Background in fintech or high-growth start-ups
Familiarity with trading platforms, execution flows, or best execution monitoring
Experience working on settlement optimisation or post-trade processes
How We Work
We’re a lean, fast-moving team that values clarity, ownership, and transparency.
You’ll have the freedom to experiment, the responsibility to follow through, and the backing of a team that values clear thinking and open dialogue. We believe in solving problems at the root, not just treating the symptoms.
What We Offer
Impact from day one
You’ll take on meaningful work from the start, tackling real challenges that drive the stability, efficiency, and growth of our business.
Room to grow
As we scale, you’ll have opportunities to expand your responsibilities, influence how we work, and help shape our long-term direction.
Transparent and open culture
We share decisions openly, keep communication channels clear, and encourage collaboration across every part of the business.
Supportive, high-calibre team
Work alongside talented professionals who are experts in their fields — smart, driven, and generous with their knowledge.
Remote first and flexible
Work in the way that best suits you. We focus on results, not rigid hours, and trust you to manage your time effectively.
