This is a crucial strategic and operational position for a data specialist, whether an experienced school data manager, an MIS analyst, or a quantitative professional from a broader educational/public sector background, to translate complex educational metrics into actionable insights that drive academic progress and whole-school achievement.
About the Role
As the Data & Systems Manager, you will serve as the analytical engine of the school. Working directly alongside the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and Heads of Department, you will oversee the management, security, and analysis of student performance data, statutory returns, assessment frameworks, timetabling data, and tracking reporting systems using the school’s Management Information System (MIS).

Assessment & Progress Analytics: Design, build, and deploy robust tracking models and reporting dashboards for key assessment cycles across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, generating clear Progress 8, Value Added, and attainment insights for leadership.
Statutory Returns & Compliance: Lead on the accurate completion and submission of all mandatory Department for Education (DfE) and Local Authority statutory data returns, including School Census, Workforce Census, and exam result analysis.
Academic Reporting: Produce clear, user-friendly academic progress reports for parents, governors, and teaching staff, transforming complex datasets into easily understood visual charts and summaries.
Timetable & Examinations Support: Collaborate with the Academic Leadership Team to input and maintain the school timetable within the MIS, supporting subject options processes and internal/external examination data uploads.
Requirements
Proven experience in data management, statistical analysis, or MIS administration (prior experience within a secondary school, sixth form, or educational trust is highly desirable).
Expert proficiency in educational MIS software (e.g., SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom) and advanced analytical software/spreadsheet tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Google Sheets).
Deep understanding of national secondary assessment frameworks, DfE performance metrics (Progress 8, Attainment 8, Value Added), and statutory census requirements.
Meticulous attention to detail, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the capability to handle sensitive pupil and personnel data in compliance with GDPR.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex data trends clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including teachers, leadership, and governors.

Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), generous annual leave allowance, funded professional development/MIS specialist certifications, and access to whole-school staff wellbeing initiatives.
