Service Lead
We’re looking for a Service Lead (Grade 11) to join our Settlement & Insights team at Elexon on a permanent basis.
In this role, you’ll take a leading role in the day-to-day operation of Settlement services , ensuring Elexon continues to meet its Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC) obligations while delivering a high-quality service to customers. You’ll manage a small team of Service Analysts, act as a senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) and work closely with the Service Owner to manage operational risk, improve services and support industry change.
This is an opportunity to combine people leadership, operational service delivery and specialist electricity market knowledge , with scope to develop further management capability and act as a delegate for the Service Owner.
What you’ll do:
Manage and develop a small team of Service Analysts , supporting their performance and development
Oversee the delivery of BSC obligations and operational Settlement processes
Identify and mitigate operational risks, including risks relating to data quality and service performance
Act as a senior SME , providing specialist guidance on Settlement services, BSC processes and industry change
Support customers with complex queries, driving a positive customer experience
Develop and improve operational processes, procedures and Local Working Instructions (LWIs)
Analyse operational information and provide clear recommendations to the Service Owner and senior stakeholders
Produce and present analysis, reports and recommendations to panels, committees, boards and industry working groups
Support business readiness for change, including Training Needs Analysis, operational documentation, service acceptance and training
Provide guidance and constructive challenge to projects and product teams where changes affect Settlement services
Build effective relationships with industry stakeholders including BSC Parties, Ofgem, DESNZ, NESO and service providers
What you’ll bring:
In-depth knowledge of the BSC and BSC processes
Experience leading, supervising or developing a small team
Strong understanding of operational service delivery and the ability to take ownership through to resolution
Experience working with large datasets to answer operational or business questions
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear language for different audiences
Strong stakeholder engagement and customer relationship skills
Excellent attention to detail across numerical and written work
Ability to manage a varied workload and changing priorities while maintaining quality
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Knowledge of GB electricity market arrangements and Settlement processes (desirable)
Knowledge of SVA, Credit, Industry Standing Data, BMUs or MHHS (desirable)
Experience with SQL, Python, R, Power BI or Tableau (desirable)
