Part-time, In-house Employment Tax Manager

A leading international business is seeking an experienced Employment Tax Manager to join its established in-house tax function. The role will be based in London and would suit someone looking to work 3 or 4 days a week (either specific days or reduced hours). Expectation is for 2 days a week in the office.

Reporting directly to the Group Tax Director, this is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of employment tax matters across a large and complex organisation. The role offers broad exposure to advisory, compliance, governance and project-based work, as well as the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders across finance, legal, HR and operational teams.

This position would suit an employment tax specialist looking for a commercially focused role with significant stakeholder interaction and the opportunity to influence policy, process improvements and strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Acting as the subject matter expert on employment tax matters across the business
• Providing advice on a broad range of employment tax issues, including benefits, expenses, employment status and employee reward arrangements
• Managing annual compliance obligations, including PSA, P11D and Employment Related Securities reporting
• Supporting the business with off-payroll working (IR35) compliance and risk management
• Advising on the employment tax implications of new business initiatives and employee incentive arrangements
• Undertaking risk and control reviews and supporting wider tax governance initiatives
• Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments and communicating their impact to stakeholders
• Supporting HMRC enquiries, audits, disclosures and settlements
• Working closely with finance, legal, compliance, treasury and shared services teams on cross-functional projects
• Developing and enhancing internal policies, controls and training materials
• Supporting technology, automation and compliance transformation initiatives
• Managing relationships with external advisers in relation to globally mobile employees and executive mobility matters
• Providing employment tax support on acquisitions, disposals and business transformation projects
• Assisting with Short-Term Business Visitor and international mobility reporting processes

The successful candidate is likely to have:

• CTA, ATT or equivalent tax qualification
• Proven employment tax experience gained within practice, industry or HMRC
• Strong technical knowledge across employment tax compliance and advisory matters
• Experience of off-payroll working (IR35) and employment tax risk management
• Experience dealing with HMRC enquiries, audits and disclosures
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-tax stakeholders
• A commercial and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
• The ability to work independently while building strong relationships across the business
