Design & Technology Teacher - Ambitious Secondary Academy...
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Paid to scale (Inner London Framework)
The Role
An ambitious Secondary Academy in Newham is seeking a professional, technologically minded, and exceptionally organised Design & Technology Teacher to join their experienced and successful Product Design faculty. This is a premier opportunity to join a heavily funded department where industrial-grade CAD/CAM equipment, timber fabrication workshops, and structural graphics tools are integrated directly into the core curriculum.
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day instructional support across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, preparing students for technical excellence in material properties, product engineering, architectural design, and digital manufacturing processes. Key responsibilities include maintaining precise student portfolio tracking logs, constructing multi-tier safety and assessment frameworks, managing workshop material budgets, and ensuring compliance with all educational workshop safety parameters (DATA certification guidelines).
You will support seamless communication with parents, regional engineering groups, and external examination boards, ensuring all physical coursework prototypes, safety checklists, and performance metrics are handled securely and professionally. Exceptional time-management and physical safety tracking skills are necessary, as this role requires balancing practical machinery operation with detailed technical theory delivery.
