Description
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Senior Broker to join our North American Casualty team in London. This role is responsible for leading the placement of complex liability programs, supporting portfolio growth, and contributing to client strategy across a diverse range of industries. The successful candidate will bring strong market connectivity, technical expertise, and a proactive, client-first approach.
The Role:
Placement Management:
- Negotiate and place complex liability insurance programmes on behalf of clients
- In coordination with US colleagues, prepare high-quality underwriting submissions for distribution to London insurers
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of London Market Reform Contracts including quote, binder, and policy review
- Lead renewal strategy discussions, market engagement and negotiations, providing clear recommendations to clients
- Effectively manage placement strategies across open market, facilities and alternative risk transfer options
- Ensure transparency of agency and other commitments made to carriers and clients
- Ensure compliant processing of contracts in line with FCA and contract certainty requirements
Portfolio & Business Development:
- Support growth of the casualty portfolio through new business opportunities and expansion of existing client relationships
- Contribute to pipeline development, retention strategy, and cross-selling initiatives across the wider business
- Support strategic tenders and placement of large and complex risks in the London and international markets
- Maintain strong awareness of market conditions, pricing trends, and carrier appetite
- Market Engagement & Product Development:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key London market underwriters and carriers
- Identify emerging liability exposures and contribute to the development of innovative placement solutions
- Collaborate with internal specialists and carriers to structure bespoke coverage where required
Client Service & Operations:
- Understand clients’ businesses and risk management objectives, delivering tailored solutions
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
- Ensure ongoing alignment of cover with client needs as risk profiles evolve
- Liaise across specialty lines to deliver coordinated client solutions
- Apply and adhere to business unit policies and regulatory requirements
- Communicate effectively with clients, markets, and internal teams to maximise service delivery
- Maintain accurate use of internal systems and ensure all operational metrics are met
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on complex placement matters where required
Qualifications
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience in US casualty broking and/or underwriting
- Strong knowledge of the London insurance market and Lloyd’s placing environment
- Demonstrated track record in placing complex liability programmes
- Strong client relationship and business development skills
- Commercially minded with the ability to identify and act on market opportunities
- Proactive, detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities
- Degree level education or equivalent industry experience
- Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
