Job Description

Join us as a Senior Software Engineer in our CTO team, driving innovation in our business-critical engineering projects at Shawbrook, the forefront of fintech banking.

You will be working on our Savings Digital platform to build a brand new mobile app. One of the most exciting and important projects for the future of the bank. Our new Savings platform is in development, and we need an experienced engineer to take ownership of the front-end and guide us on best practice, high-quality solutions and innovative solutions.

This role offers a chance for a skilled engineer to deepen their domain expertise in banking and collaborate with a dynamic team of engineers, using Agile methodologies to drive forward our technical transformation at Shawbrook.

You'll be an advocate for best-in-class engineering standards and maintain a strong focus on product delivery, You'll have the chance to make your mark right away as we undergo pivotal, impactful work with truly diverse opportunities to support your development.

Responsibilities:

• Work as part of an Agile product team to further our product delivery objectives, creating simple, clean and well-documented code.
• Lead the development of a new mobile app (Android/IOS).
• Work with the QA team to help create automated tests to ensure the quality of the software.
• Participate in backlog refinement sessions to understand business requirements and take responsibility for implementing the most appropriate solution.
• Utilise engineering best practices and design principles, bearing in mind non-functional requirements around performance and security.
• Work with the support team to assist with deployments and monitoring of services in production.
• Document details of system amendments/enhancements in both your code comments and our online documentation system
• Be an advocate for best practice, mentor and coach junior members of the team to support their development.

Qualifications

• JavaScript & React JS- You will use React JS to build out the front-end presentation layers of our products.
• React Native and Expo - You will be helping to build mobile apps and publish via Google Play and Apple app store
• Front end testing- You will need experience testing front end systems, using tools like Playwright or similar to ensure high quality code.
• Cloud Experience (ideally Azure)- You will need a solid understanding of cloud fundamentals for the wider migration to the cloud as part of our technical transformation.
• Microservices- You will need a good understanding of microservice architecture and how the front end communicates with our back end architecture.
• Mentoring & coaching- As a senior engineer you will be an advocate for best practice and support our more junior engineers in their career development.
