Senior Software Engineer
Skimlinks, a Taboola company, drives e-commerce success for 50% of the Internet’s largest online retailers. We deliver $2B in annual sales by connecting retailers to shoppers on the most desirable retail content channels. As a pioneer in online advertising and campaign technology, Skimlinks, together with its family of products (Taboola, Connexity, and Shopyourlikes) are constantly iterating on products, solving problems for retailers, content creators & influencers, and publishers, building interest in new solutions.
We are actively seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer for our Skimlinks brand, to help us advance our technology stack and product development endeavours.
The Senior Software Engineer is based in London, reports to the Sr. Principal Software Engineer Team Lead, and is a part of the Skimlink's UK Engineering team. This position is a senior-level role responsible for providing technical leadership, guiding and implementing the architecture and design of complex software systems, and driving innovation by combining strong technical expertise with effective communication and leadership skills to drive success in software development projects. The position will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and implementing systems across all facets of our intricate platform. From managing high-volume data collection and enrichment to automated analysis, and backend services alongside RESTful APIs, your contributions will be fundamental to our success. Additionally, the Senior Software Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, mentors junior developers, and contributes to architectural decisions and strategic planning to drive the company's technological growth and innovation.
About the role
- Design, develop, and deploy systems spanning our comprehensive platform, addressing challenges from data collection to backend services and RESTful APIs.
- Collaborate closely with our esteemed team of Product Delivery Managers and commercial teams to comprehend market needs and customer requirements, translating them into effective solutions.
- Innovate solutions to intricate technical problems, aligning design decisions with our technical strategy and maintaining high engineering standards.
- Define and promote best development practices within the organization, including but not limited to code reviews and testing methodologies, shaping our development environment.
- Share your deep technical expertise across the organization, serving as a mentor to foster growth and knowledge transfer.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) would be advantageous.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a senior-level Software Engineer, with a proven track record of delivering successful projects and solutions.
- Demonstrated expertise in building enterprise-grade software, utilizing at least one of the following languages: Python, Java, Golang or Scala.
- A strong passion for driving project evolution and innovating new products within a dynamic environment characterized by lightweight agile processes.
- Proficiency in developing systems capable of efficiently scaling with extensive data volumes.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code with meticulous attention to detail, including consideration of edge cases.
- Proficient in SQL and adept at integrating with a variety of data technologies.
- Familiarity with container platforms such as Docker.
- Comfortable with unit testing and Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies.
- Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle, from conception to deployment.
- Capable of conceptualizing and implementing software architectures spanning multiple technologies and platforms.
