At Wilson James, we're looking for an ambitious Commercial Analyst to join our Commercial & Pricing team, supporting our Security and Aviation divisions. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your commercial, analytical, and pricing skills within a successful employee-owned business, working alongside experienced commercial professionals and sector leaders

About the Role:

Reporting to the Senior Commercial & Pricing Manager, you'll play a key role in helping the business understand performance, improve profitability, and identify opportunities for growth.

This is far more than a reporting role. You'll analyse contract performance, investigate margin trends, identify areas of margin leakage, and help sector leaders understand the commercial story behind the numbers. You'll also gain exposure to pricing activities, supporting bids, retenders, and new business opportunities.

• Producing and maintaining regular contract margin reports
• Analysing revenue, costs, and profitability trends
• Identifying and investigating margin leakage across contracts
• Supporting variance analysis and explaining key performance drivers
• Working with operational and commercial teams to improve performance
• Building and maintaining Excel-based commercial models
• Supporting pricing exercises for bids, tenders, and contract renewals
• Developing Power BI dashboards to monitor key commercial metrics
• Maintaining accurate commercial information within Salesforce
• Producing insightful reports and recommendations for senior stakeholders and board reporting

What We're Looking for:
We're interested in individuals who are naturally curious and enjoy understanding how businesses operate and make money.

• A degree in Finance, Mathematics, Business, Economics, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets
• The ability to translate data into clear, practical insights
• Strong attention to detail and a questioning mindset
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• A genuine interest in commercial performance, pricing, and business growth
• Experience with Power BI or reporting tools would be advantageous, but full training will be provided
