Science Teacher (Physics Specialist) - High-Achieving...
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Paid to scale (Inner London Framework)
The Role
A premier Secondary Academy in Newham is seeking a professional, mathematically minded, and exceptionally organised Physics Teacher to join their expanding STEM faculty. This role represents an excellent opportunity to champion advanced scientific inquiry, thermodynamic modeling, and quantum theory within a heavily resourced department featuring modern laboratories, university-grade equipment arrays, and full-time physics technician support.
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day instructional leadership across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. The timetable will involve delivering a rich, challenging curriculum covering Newtonian mechanics, nuclear physics, and astrophysics at GCSE and A-Level, alongside core general science frameworks across Key Stage 3. Beyond classroom teaching, responsibilities include constructing comprehensive student tracking portfolios, implementing targeted technical intervention tracks for mathematical data calculation fluency, managing laboratory asset logs, and supporting the school's engineering societies and regional astrophysics challenges.
You will act as a primary link with parents, examination boards, and local university engineering networks, requiring absolute professionalism and data accuracy at all times. Strong organisational skills are a prerequisite, as you will balance heavy mock diagnostic marking cycles with real-time digital progress logging and strict laboratory safety compliance tracking (CLEAPSS frameworks).
School Information
This is an 11 to 18 well-established Academy in Newham with a powerful commitment to technical innovation, academic rigor, and student welfare. The school serves an ambitious regional community and is known for its modern learning environments and state-of-the-art STEM resources. Staff benefit from an open, collaborative professional culture, highly visible leadership, a manageable administrative load, and an excellent framework for targeted career progression and specialized training.
Requirements
A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) with a degree in Physics or a highly related engineering discipline
Proven experience teaching Physics specifications up to GCSE and A-Level
Strong data literacy and IT skills, with complete confidence using digital learning tracking systems
Professional and proactive approach to managing laboratory health and safety protocols (CLEAPSS frameworks)
Ability to work effectively and adaptably within a fast-paced, high-achieving department
Application
