About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join one of our high-performing product squads delivering cutting-edge financial systems for a global reinsurer. You'll play a key role in designing and delivering scalable data platforms and services using Go and Python in a modern cloud-native environment.
This isn't just a coding role, we're looking for someone with a product mindset who can lead by example, pair with actuaries and analysts, and help shape the technical vision and delivery.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading engineering efforts as the most senior Back End developer on the squad
- Collaborating with actuaries and stakeholders to deliver Python-based financial models
- Building high-performance APIs and background services in Go
- Designing robust data pipelines and platforms on Azure (Databricks, Synapse)
- Working closely with Product Owners to translate requirements into scalable tech solutions
Must-Have Skills
- Go (GoLang) - 3 years building APIs and background services
- Python - 3 years, especially around data transformation & ETL
- Experience with data platforms (Databricks, Azure Synapse)
- Azure - At least 1 year building in Azure environments
- Proven technical leadership in cross-functional squads
- Understanding of financial systems or data
Nice-to-Haves
- Reinsurance or wider finance industry experience
- Familiarity with actuarial models or collaboration with actuaries
- Experience with highly regulated data environments
