Marchant Recruitment
London

A well-organised secondary school in Lambeth is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Admissions & Attendance Officer to join its busy administrative team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and understands the importance of strong attendance, accurate records and positive communication with families.

The school serves a diverse local community and is known for its clear routines, strong pastoral support and a culture where safeguarding, wellbeing and student success are central. This role plays a key part in ensuring smooth admissions processes and maintaining high standards in attendance and punctuality.

The Role

As Admissions & Attendance Officer , you will support the effective management of admissions and attendance systems, ensuring information is accurate, timely and handled professionally. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting admissions processes, including applications, transfers and record management

  • Maintaining accurate student records and ensuring compliance with school procedures

  • Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality, identifying concerns and following up appropriately

  • Communicating with parents and carers regarding absence, punctuality and attendance expectations

  • Working closely with pastoral teams and senior leaders to support attendance improvement strategies

  • Producing attendance reports and supporting meetings with families where required

  • Liaising with external agencies and local authority teams as appropriate

  • Ensuring processes support safeguarding, including accurate tracking and prompt follow-up

This is a role that requires consistency, discretion and strong communication skills, alongside the confidence to work with a range of stakeholders in a busy school environment.

The Team

You will join a collaborative admin and pastoral support team that works closely to ensure students are safe, supported and attending regularly. The role involves regular liaison with tutors, heads of year, safeguarding staff and senior leaders to ensure attendance information is shared effectively and action is taken promptly where needed.

The school values professionalism, teamwork and solution-focused working. Training and support will be available to help you feel confident with school systems and procedures.

The School

The school has a calm, structured learning environment supported by consistent routines and clear behaviour expectations. Leaders place strong emphasis on student wellbeing, safeguarding and a positive partnership with families.

Attendance and punctuality are key priorities, and the school works proactively with families to promote engagement, address barriers and support students to attend consistently.

What the School is Looking For

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience in administration, attendance, admissions or data-focused roles

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and confidence handling sensitive information

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with parents, staff and external agencies

  • Be confident using IT systems, including databases, spreadsheets and reporting tools

  • Understand the importance of safeguarding, confidentiality and accurate record-keeping

  • Be proactive, organised and able to manage competing priorities

  • Work well as part of a team while showing initiative and follow-through

Experience in a school setting is desirable, but training can be provided for candidates with strong transferable skills.

Why Join This School

  • Key role supporting student engagement and school systems

  • Supportive admin and pastoral teams with clear procedures

  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on attendance and wellbeing

  • Work in a diverse Lambeth community with strong pastoral focus

  • Positive school culture with consistent routines and supportive leadership

This is an excellent opportunity for an Admissions & Attendance Officer who wants to play a vital role in supporting pupils to attend, achieve and thrive — in a well-organised Lambeth secondary school.
