Senior Cost Engineer

Join us as a Senior Cost Engineer in London, driving our Work Winning team's success. You'll specialise in electrical services, creating accurate and competitive estimates for MEP projects from pre-tender to post-tender stages. Collaborate with Bid and Cost Management teams to shape pricing strategies, identify risks, and suggest cost-effective alternatives. Mentor junior Cost Engineers and provide effective tender handovers to project delivery teams.

The Work

• Prepare accurate estimates for electrical services in MEP projects.
• Produce detailed take-offs and measures from drawings and specifications.
• Price labour, materials, subcontractors, and plant using current market information.
• Develop bid and pricing strategies with Bid Managers and Cost Managers.
• Challenge solutions and identify alternative, cost-effective approaches.
• Assess and adjudicate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Keep up to date with market pricing, competition, and workload.
• Work closely with stakeholders to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely submissions.
• Support and mentor junior members of the Cost Engineering team.
• Provide an effective handover of tender information to project delivery teams.

What You Need

• Strong electrical estimating/cost engineering experience within MEP or building services.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications, producing accurate take-offs and measures.
• Experience pricing electrical labour, materials, subcontractors, and plant.
• Good understanding of the tender and work-winning process.
• Strong commercial awareness with risk and opportunity identification skills.
• Ability to assess and challenge supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to support, mentor, and share knowledge with junior team members.
