Senior Product Owner, WPP Open

About WPP Open: WPP Open is at the forefront of transforming how WPP delivers value to its clients. We are building a unified product ecosystem that empowers our agencies and clients with cutting-edge tools and data-driven insights. Our product organization is driven by a clear vision, strategic execution, and a commitment to continuous innovation.

The Opportunity: We are seeking a Senior Product Owner to join our WPP Open product team. You will hold end-to-end ownership of a critical product capability, from strategic ideation through to successful launch and continuous optimization. You will define, champion, and translate strategy within the overarching WPP Open vision into actionable product backlogs, proactively driving complex feature sets to market, mentoring team members, and collaborating closely with engineering teams and diverse stakeholders to deliver measurable, high-impact product outcomes that directly contribute to WPP Open's success.

What you'll do:

  • Product Strategy & Vision Ownership: Take full, end-to-end accountability for a designated product capability. Define its detailed product strategy, vision, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with the broader WPP Open vision and strategic themes. Proactively identify market opportunities, user needs, and technological advancements to shape its future, and continuously evolve the strategy based on insights and performance.
  • End-to-End Product Lifecycle Leadership: Lead the entire product lifecycle for your capability, from initial concept and discovery through development, launch, and continuous post-launch optimization. Drive cross-functional teams, anticipate risks, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions that meet defined success metrics.
  • Outcome-Driven Product Backlog Management: Own and manage complex or high-impact product backlogs for your designated area, ensuring they are meticulously prioritized, well-defined, and directly support the product strategy and overall WPP Open roadmap. Translate high-level strategy and user needs into clear, actionable epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria with measurable outcomes.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the central orchestrator, working closely with engineering teams, UX/UI designers, and other product stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle. Drive alignment, resolve impediments, and proactively engage a diverse range of stakeholders, including senior managers and end-users, to gather feedback, build consensus, and influence the roadmap.
  • Data-Driven Continuous Improvement: Establish and manage robust mechanisms for gathering user feedback and analysing product performance data. Translate insights from market performance, user feedback, and analytics directly back into the product roadmap to drive continuous improvement.
  • Complex Problem Solving & Strategic Decision Making: Analyse and resolve complex product-related problems, considering broader implications and introducing new approaches to improve efficiency. Demonstrate strong prioritization and decision-making skills, especially under ambiguity, to ensure valuable features are delivered and strategic goals are met.
  • Mentorship & Team Development: Actively mentor and guide sharing best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

What you'll need:

  • Extensive experience in product management or a similar product ownership role, with a demonstrable track record of successfully owning, defining, and driving critical product capabilities from idea to launch and beyond with significant autonomy.
  • Proven ability to translate strategic vision into actionable product backlogs, managing complex or high-impact areas, and consistently achieving measurable business outcomes.
  • Understanding and practical experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban). Agile certification (e.g., CSPO, SAFe PO/PM) is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring, coaching, and influencing cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data, user feedback, and market insights to inform product decisions, measure success, and drive continuous improvement.
  • A track record of successfully delivering features and driving post-launch performance, with a focus on achieving clear, testable outcomes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex challenges, consider broader implications, and introduce innovative approaches.
