INSIDE IR35 HYBRID CONTRACT ROLE (LONDON UK)

Our client is searching for a deeply analytical and coding-focused Marketing Cloud Engagement Technical Architect to own the technical delivery, custom development, and complex integrations within our Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) ecosystem. While a Solution Architect defines what we are building, you will define exactly how it gets built. You will be the ultimate escalation point for all technical challenges, responsible for writing custom Server Side scripts, developing API-driven architectures, building Custom Journey Builder Activities, and ensuring our marketing stack is highly secure, performant, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities

• Custom Development: Write, review, and optimize complex AMPScript, Server Side JavaScript (SSJS), and SQL to execute highly customised, dynamic marketing logic that standard platform features cannot support.

• API & Integration Architecture: Design and build programmatic integrations utilising SFMC REST and SOAP APIs, handling everything from Real Time transactional triggering to high-volume data payloads and webhook implementations.

• Platform Extensibility: Develop Custom Activities for Journey Builder and engineer complex, interactive CloudPages utilising HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SSJS to support custom applications.

• Security & Performance: Own platform security protocols (OAuth 2.0, JWT, Encryption at Rest/Transit), manage API rate limits, and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks in massive-scale Automations and queries.

• Technical Governance: Establish CI/CD workflows, version control practices, and coding standards for the SFMC development team, ensuring robust error handling and logging.

Must-Have Skills

• Experience: 5+ years of software engineering or technical architecture experience, with a minimum of 3 years dedicated to deep, hands-on custom development within Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

• Advanced Coding: Expert-level proficiency in Server Side JavaScript (SSJS), AMPScript, and SQL (advanced relational database querying and optimisation).

• API Mastery: Extensive hands-on experience with SFMC REST and SOAP APIs, including custom payload construction, token management, and troubleshooting API-driven data streams.

• Web Technologies: Strong proficiency in full-stack web development basics (HTML, CSS, client-side JavaScript, JSON, XML) for building robust CloudPages and preference centres.

• Data & Security: Deep understanding of ETL processes, relational data modelling, and enterprise security standards (OAuth, SSL, data encryption).

Optional Skills & Bonus Points

• Custom App Development: Experience hosting external applications (eg, Node.js, Python, AWS Lambda) to power Custom Journey Builder Activities or external webhooks.

• Mobile SDK: Hands-on experience implementing the SFMC MobilePush SDK into native iOS or Android applications.

• Salesforce Core: Foundational understanding of Apex, SOQL, and Salesforce Platform events.

• Marketing Cloud Next/Advanced hands on build and deploy experience
