Welfare Assistant
A welcoming two-form-entry primary school in Harrow is seeking a caring and organised Welfare Assistant for a long-term maternity cover contract. Role Information
* Location: Harrow, Middlesex
* Position: Welfare Assistant
* Contract: Maternity cover
Responsibilities
* Provide first aid to pupils, staff and visitors, including responding to medical emergencies
* Manage the welfare room and support sick, injured or distressed pupils
* Record accidents and medical incidents using Medical Tracker
* Maintain medical records, care plans and consent documentation
* Manage pupil medication, inhalers, EpiPens and expiry dates
* Liaise with parents, healthcare professionals and school staff
* Coordinate immunisations, vaccinations and health checks
* Maintain first-aid supplies, equipment and school first-aid kits
* Prepare medical information and resources for school trips
* Report safeguarding concerns in line with school procedures
* Support the school office and reception team when required
Requirements
* Previous experience as a Welfare Assistant or in a similar medical, pastoral or school-based role
* A current Paediatric First Aid Training and Certificate
* A caring, empathetic and approachable manner
* Excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills
* Ability to remain calm when dealing with illness, injury or emergencies
* A strong understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
