Legal Counsel
Role overview:
Permanent
London Waterloo - Hybrid
G4
At Currys we’re united by one passion: to help everyone enjoy amazing technology. As the UK’s best-known retailer of tech, we’re proud of the service our customers receive – and it’s all down to our team of 25,000 caring and committed colleagues. Working as one team, we learn and grow together, celebrating the big and small moments that make every day amazing.
You'll be part of the Legal, Governance and Risk team, reporting to the Head of Corporate and Commercial Law. We give the business clear, practical legal advice that helps Currys move fast and stay protected. We cover everything from commercial contracts to competition, IP and regulatory matters. No two days look the same, and we like it that way. We work as trusted partners to the teams we support, not just a legal sign-off at the end of the process. It's a collaborative team where people back each other and take real ownership of the work they do.
You'll work with colleagues right across Currys, from commercial and IT teams to procurement and finance in the UK and Ireland. Building strong relationships matters here because good legal advice only lands when people trust you. You'll partner with project teams across the business, making sure legal input is part of the conversation from day one rather than an afterthought. You'll also work with external counsel when needed, making sure Currys gets the right expertise on the right matters. And when suppliers need setting up or invoices need settling, you'll be part of making that happen smoothly too.
Role overview:
As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:
- Lead on the review, drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts, taking full ownership of projects from start to finish.
- Play an active role in the Currys negotiating team, advising on strategic and structural issues as well as managing legal risk.
- Support senior lawyers on more complex contracts and projects, flagging key issues early and helping drive them to resolution.
- Advise on a range of legal areas including competition, intellectual property, data protection and contentious dispute discussions.
- Work with cross-functional project teams across the business, making sure legal input is part of the conversation from day one.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in commercial, IT, Procurement and Finance so they see you as a trusted partner.
- Work with external counsel and advisors when needed, making sure Currys gets the right expertise at the right time.
- Keep on top of changes in the law, anticipate what they mean for Currys and share your thinking with the wider team
You will need:
- Newly Qualified solicitor.
- Experience working on commercial contracts, either in-house or at a law firm.
- Solid experience working on commercial contracts, with the confidence to lead on them independently.
- Confidence managing multiple projects at once without dropping the ball on quality or deadlines.
- Sharp communication skills that build credibility with colleagues at all levels.
- A collaborative mindset that means you support the people around you as much as you deliver your own work.
- Curiosity about the business you're supporting and a genuine interest in helping it succeed.

Be part of our talented People, Communications and Sustainability team and unbox your passion at the UK’s best-known retailer in tech.
