SEND Teaching Assistant - Specialist School - Islington Full Time | Term Time Only | September 2025 Start £104 to £114 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm) Long Term Futures are working in partnership with a welcoming and well-resourced specialist school in Islington to recruit a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant for the new academic year. The school caters for children and young people with a wide range of needs, including autism, complex medical conditions, learning difficulties and sensory impairments. Many students require support with personal care, emotional regulation and tailored communication strategies. You'll be joining a supportive staff team that works closely with therapy staff, class teachers and the SENCo to ensure every child receives the care and consistency they need to thrive. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with complex SEND needs
• Deliver personal care including toileting, changing, and feeding (training provided)
• Support communication using systems such as PECS, Makaton, or visual timetables
• Promote engagement and independence through sensory and structured learning
• Collaborate with therapy teams, teachers and families to implement EHCP goals
• Maintain a safe, positive and inclusive classroom environment

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience working with children or young people with complex needs in a school or care setting
• Willingness to carry out personal care tasks with sensitivity and professionalism
• A calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting challenging behaviour or medical needs
• An understanding of SEN strategies, visual supports or sensory integration
• Background in special schools, care work or health and social care is highly desirable
