The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC) is based in the heart of central and south London. It includes the Cicely Saunders Institute for Palliative Care, Policy & Rehabilitation , the premier Institute for Palliative Care, bringing together clinical, research and education teams.

Our applied clinical and health multidisciplinary research transforms therapies, the healthcareexperienceand outcomes for patients and those important to them, wherever they are cared for. Our award-winning NMPC education programmes span pre-registration nursing and midwifery, and multidisciplinary post-graduate taught and research programmes.

About the role

The Social Care Rapid Evaluation Team (SOCRATES) is a group of researchers and experts by experience from Kings College London, the London School of Economics and Political Science and the University of Lancashire, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) to rapidly evaluate social care innovations and service developments. Our rapid evaluations provide relevant, robust and timely evidence to improve social care and peoples lives. The opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated individual to provide project management support to SOCRATES. As part of SOCRATES, the postholder will be expected to work closely with the leadership team across KingsCollege London and the University of Lancashire to support SOCRATESs Co-Directors to develop and maintain its infrastructure, relationships with evaluation sites, communication with advisors, collaborators and wider stakeholders, monitor budgets and support aspects of the contract. The postholder will join the Management Team.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of effective project coordination, ideally for research projects and experience working in a research administration role, ideally in Higher Education. The role requires experience managing budgets, overseeing and recording financial expenditure as well as managing multiple projects simultaneously with competing deadlines. It also necessitates the successful candidate to have the capacity to develop and deliver strategy and action plans that take forward agreed priorities. Evidence of being self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently with limited supervision will be essential.

The role is 0.5FTE (17.5 hours per week) which can be distributed flexibly. The post-holder is expected to attend in-person for a minimum one day per week at the Denmark Hill campus

This is a part-time post and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 30.04.28.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Proven experience of effective project coordination, ideally in Higher Education research administration, including experience of budgeting, overseeing and recording financial expenditure
  2. Capacity to develop and deliver strategy and action plans that take forward agreed priorities
  3. Experience of building and developing networks, internally and externally, as well as handling complex queries and communicating appropriately to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  4. Experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously with competing deadlines and evidence of strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to interpret complex documents, procedures and regulations to provide sound guidance to others
  6. Experience gathering, collating and analysing data and information and the ability to interpret complex documents
  7. Evidence of effective teamwork and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  8. Excellent oral and written communication skills, fluency in written and spoken English and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint)

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience managing relationships with research funders.
  2. Experience of making recommendations based on data analysis
  3. Relevant professional qualification or membership of appropriate professional body
