Senior Data Engineer

Dexters
London

Dexters is London’s leading independent estate agency. Continued growth through acquisitions, systems development and business transformation creates complex data engineering, migration and integration challenges.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to strengthen our engineering capability, with particular emphasis on data migration, integration, automation and data quality.

This is a hands-on role for someone who combines strong technical ability with ownership, pace and attention to detail.

Location: Clapham Junction

Salary: £70,000–£85,000 DOE

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, build and maintain reliable production data pipelines and transformations.

  • Lead the technical delivery of complex data migrations and integrations, including mapping, transformation and validation.

  • Build automated reconciliation and validation controls to demonstrate data completeness and accuracy.

  • Develop high-quality solutions using SQL, Python, Snowflake, dbt and integration technologies.

  • Investigate complex data issues and take ownership through to resolution.

  • Automate manual or fragile processes to improve reliability and efficiency.

  • Contribute to code reviews, testing and technical design.

  • Produce clear technical documentation and ensure solutions can be supported by the wider team.

  • Work with project and business teams to understand requirements, dependencies and risks.

  • Provide realistic estimates and communicate delivery risks early.

  • Support junior engineers and share technical knowledge across the team.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and ways of working.

What we are looking for:

  • Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer working with production systems.

  • Excellent SQL and strong Python development skills.

  • Experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines and integrating data from multiple systems.

  • Strong experience delivering data migrations, transformations or complex integration projects.

  • Experience with modern cloud data platforms, ideally Snowflake.

  • Experience with dbt or comparable transformation frameworks.

  • Strong understanding of automated testing, reconciliation and data quality.

  • Methodical approach with excellent attention to detail.

  • Strong sense of ownership and the ability to work at pace.

  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly and escalate risks early.

  • Experience supporting and developing less experienced engineers.

Experience with Azure Data Factory, Airbyte, APIs and CRM data migrations would be advantageous.
