Graduate Academic Mentor
Graduate Academic Mentor – Islington, North London
£25,000–£30,000 per annum | Minimum £550 per week equivalent | Full-Time | September 2026
Are you a high-achieving graduate who wants to turn your academic success into a career in education?
Could you inspire ambitious secondary pupils to raise their grades, confidence and aspirations?
Want a full academic year of meaningful school experience before progressing into teacher training, Educational Psychology or another education-focused career?
KPI Education is recruiting an exceptional Graduate Academic Mentor to join an ambitious secondary school and sixth form in Islington, North London.
This is not a conventional Teaching Assistant position.
The school wants an academically strong graduate who can become a role model, mentor and source of inspiration for young people while gaining outstanding experience for their own future career.
Graduate Academic Mentor – The Opportunity
- £25,000–£30,000 per annum
- Alternatively, an equivalent weekly rate of a minimum £550 per week
- Full-time position throughout the 2026/27 academic year
- Support pupils across KS3, GCSE and potentially A-Level
- Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group academic interventions
- Work predominantly within your degree specialism where possible
- Support pupils targeting the highest GCSE grades
- Mentor students considering Russell Group and competitive universities
- Develop revision, examination and independent study strategies
- Learn directly from experienced teachers and senior leaders
- Gain exposure to lesson planning, assessment and curriculum delivery
- Excellent preparation for teacher training from September 2027
A School Where Ambition Matters
Located in Islington, this successful and diverse secondary school combines high academic expectations with a genuine commitment to widening opportunity.
The school wants pupils to think beyond their current circumstances and consider university, professional careers and opportunities they may not previously have thought possible.
Graduates play an important part in that culture.
Rather than spending the year standing at the back of classrooms, you'll be encouraged to use your own academic journey to challenge, motivate and raise aspirations.
You could spend your morning helping Year 11 pupils prepare for GCSE examinations before mentoring a high-achieving student considering a competitive university application. Later, you might lead an intervention for pupils who have the ability to achieve more but need additional confidence and direction.
Who Are We Looking For?
Applications are particularly welcomed from graduates in:
English | Mathematics | Science | History | Geography | Languages | Psychology | Humanities | STEM
A 2:1 or First-Class degree is highly desirable.
Previous school experience isn't essential. What matters is that you're academically strong, articulate, ambitious and able to build positive relationships with young people.
Could This Launch Your Career in Education?
If you're considering becoming a teacher, Educational Psychologist, SEN professional or future education leader, a full academic year inside an ambitious school could be exactly the experience you need.
Send your CV to Ryan at KPI Education today.
Interviews are being arranged now – strong graduates are encouraged to apply immediately.
