EHR Senior Reporting Analyst

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Information Technology Clinical Systems (ITCS) reporting team working on innovative analytics and reporting solutions from our new Epic EPR. The role is shared across Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KCH) and is ideal for a person who has an understanding of NHS data and wants to become an expert in Epic’s analyst tools to deliver the benefits of data-enabled healthcare.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work as part of a team of analysts supported by an application manager. Key responsibilities include:
· Analysis of business requirements in order to develop end to end reporting solutions using Epic’s Cogito (analytics) tools;
· Provide analytical support and guidance to operational and management teams, relating to Cogito reports, self-service reporting tools and the underlying data structures;
- Analyse, design and implement solutions for problems or issues with Cogito reports and dashboards
- · Producing tip sheets and documentation; and facilitating other information teams' use of Epic reporting tools.
- · Supporting Epic upgrades;

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Senior Reporting Analyst role is joint across KCH and GSTT. The two Trusts share a Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO) and a vision for digital services that are lean and agile, that maximise the benefits of a shared service operating model, and deliver the digital ambition for both Trusts. This ambition is supported by a forward-looking and strategic approach, and significant investment in a new Electronic Health Record (EHR) which will catalyse a programme of work across both Trusts to transform the way technology and data is used across our services.
The successful applicant will develop NHS operational and clinical reporting from Epic Cogito front-end tools, Reporting Workbench, Radar, and SlicerDicer, as well as by querying our Caboodle data warehouse using SQL. To achieve this they’ll work closely with the ITCS teams which support Epic applications; informatics departments in partner organisations; data warehouse teams; and end-users across every staff group to provide advice and guidance, develop reports and analytics solutions in Epic and to support using the Cogito tools. Furthermore, they will engage in a team-based development process designed around agile methodologies and collaborate in a formal system of change management to enable safe transition of information products and systems from design to operation.
Understanding of NHS operations and Trust data needs are essential to this role.
Obtaining and maintaining Epic accreditation in the Cogito module is essential. If you do not have a Cogito accreditation, you will be expected to obtain one within the first few months in this role.
Please note this role requires hybrid working and will necessitate travel between Guy's and St. Thomas', King's College Hospital and Royal Brompton and Harefield sites.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level in an Informatics related subject or substantial equivalent experience within a Health Informatics role
- Specialist training in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
- Specialist training in Data visualisation tools e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Qlikview
Desirable criteria
- Master’s degree in an Informatics related subject
- Epic Cogito Certification in one or multiple data models
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantial experience in an Informatics or Analytics role
- Experience of working in an acute hospital, community provider, Clinical Commissioning Group or other healthcare related organisation
- Broad experience of using information derived from large and complex data sets
- Experience of data requirements gathering and report specification documentation
- Substantial experience of developing complex datasets and information systems to meet with complex and changing customer requirements
- Experience of communicating complex reporting issues to a wide range of stakeholders, including NHS managers, clinicians and partner organisations
- Experience of supporting a wide range of stakeholders to effectively use and to build their knowledge of reporting tools and analytic outputs
- Experience of writing relational and multidimensional SQL queries
- Substantial experience of designing and developing reporting and analytical outputs using appropriate enterprise BI tools (Business Objects, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, PowerView, Tableau, QlikView, Power BI etc.)
- Experience of report testing tools and methodologies
- Experience of leading projects, including use of project plans and identifying risks
Desirable criteria
- Experience working with NHS acute or community datasets
- Experience of authoring high quality technical and user documentation to support the adoption and further development of Information solutions
- Experience of writing complex SQL stored procedures
- Experience of supervising staff and/or project teams
Skills and Competencies
Essential criteria
- Detailed knowledge & understanding of Health Informatics – including healthcare datasets, data quality, performance monitoring, national strategic control mechanisms for data management, definitional guidance & data protection
- Excellent understanding of the principles of Analysis, benchmarking and highly developed modelling and data manipulation
- Knowledge of data driven improvement methodologies
- Knowledge of report development software and techniques
- Good information presentation skills, evident in use of graphics and design of reports
- Ability to plan ahead and anticipate potential problem areas, devising and implementing appropriate solutions
- A working knowledge of the Microsoft SQL Server product, including its services and their use
- Comprehensive understanding of information governance rules relating to health data
- Ability to confidently manage and facilitate meetings and workshops
- Excellent interpersonal skills and team working/building skills
- Ability to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information
- Ability to negotiate with senior stakeholders on difficult and controversial issues, and present complex and sensitive information to large and influential groups

- Understanding of latest developments in NHS statutory and mandatory reporting and good understanding of NHS information and performance monitoring systems
