Assistant / Junior Designer

Due to our growing business needs, Chelse Peers is expanding our deisgn design team and are looking to speak to people on varying levels from a minimum of Assistant/Junior Designer.

Suitable applicants will be from a multi-category clothing background, used to owning their own category areas, setting and identifying key trends, and who have experience managing at least one other area. This role will span Women's Wear, Men's Wear, Kidswear and accessories. This role will sit across both Chelsea Peers and Renfold brand portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting the design team in producing creative multi-product designs that represent the latest and newest trends
• Working to briefs set by Design Manager and Head of Product that are effectively executed
• Supporting on general office admin
• Constantly generating relevant research and reporting on trends and inspiration by creating competitor shop reports, trend flashes & key items
• Assist in planning and designing new commercial ranges, taking the responsibility for everything from design concept to technical development ensuring brand pricing architecture is followed and understood
• Preparing technical design files & updating CAD sheets accordingly and sending these and updated spec sheets to factories
• Sourcing fabrics and trims from suppliers and factories
• Liaising and building strong relationships with factories and suppliers ensuring constant communication advising on direction, construction, key details & materials.
• Collaborating with the production team making sure comments and approvals are made within 24hrs of submits received
• Attending weekly fit sessions
• Assisting with the preparation for sign off meetings with internal and external stakeholders
• Working closely with the buying and technical team
• Following critical paths & key dates ensuring deadlines are met and managing daily tasks

Requirements:

• Currently working at a minimum of an assistant/junior designer level - This is not an entry-level role.
• Highly skilled in Photoshop and Illustrator
• Strong attention to detail
• Flexible with the ability to work at pace in a fast-moving environment.
• Ability to question the norm and make improvements as and when necessary.
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Self-Motivated
• Understanding of print & graphic design, ability to design own prints is advantageous
• Trend aware with a strong eye for colour and shape
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• The legal right to work in the UK
• Comfortable commuting to Chiswick, London, 3 days per week.
