TRAINEE DANCE TEACHER

The Place
London

The Creative Learning Team at The Place are passionate about dance and learning. We are responsible for creating inspirational projects in schools, communities and in our venue. Our work focuses on partnerships, the sharing of knowledge and expertise, aspiration-raising, and exploring ways in which dance can enrich learning and help change lives.

JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for artists of any dance genre who are interested in learning more about working with young children in schools to join the programme as Trainee Dance Teachers for our Partner Schools Project. We are especially interested in hearing from individuals that will diversify our current teaching team and represent the children we are working with in our Camden Primary schools.

As a Trainee Dance Teacher, you will be able to participate in our sessions, shadow our experienced dance teachers, learn how to support schoolteachers and develop your own pedagogy.

Throughout the Partner Schools Sessions you will be supporting the delivery of dance workshops in Primary Schools across Camden, encouraging engagement with dance and creativity, leading to the students performing at The Place Theatre.

You will be supported by both the Lead Artist (who takes responsibility for planning and leading the sessions) and the Deputy Artist (who supports the Lead Artist).

This position is subject to satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

You must be able to commit to attending one double session per week (2 hours) which takes place at the school. You must also be able to attend a CPD (Continuing Professional Development) day on Sat 12 Sep 2026, and a briefing session in Dec 2026.
