Advanced Hardware Electronics Engineer

What To Expect As an Advanced Hardware Electronics Engineer (BMS) at Vertical Aerospace, you will play a key role in the design, integration, and validation of our Battery Management System (BMS) hardware for next-generation eVTOL aircraft. You'll work within a multidisciplinary engineering team to design and deliver robust, safety-critical electronic systems for high-voltage battery applications. This role combines technical design, testing, and systems integration with close collaboration across engineering functions and suppliers. What You'll Do

• Support the creation and maintenance of BMS hardware design specifications for in-house projects.
• Design digital and analogue electronics for high-voltage battery systems.
• Develop BMS schematics, select components, and generate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Conduct hands-on testing and debugging of hardware designs.
• Support the integration of BMS hardware within the high-voltage electrical system.
• Coordinate with external development partners and contractors when required.
• Participate in aircraft integration and validation, supporting colleagues and contributing to design reviews for BMS hardware, including DFMEA, FTA, and FMECA activities.

• Experience with Battery Management Systems and power electronics, including power converters.
• Proven ability in schematic and PCB design, including digital and analogue circuit design, PCB layout, and design verification.
