Security & Compliance Engineer - AWS
Rayo, part of the UBDS group, is seeking a Security & Compliance Engineer to ensure AWS-hosted environments remain secure, compliant, and resilient in line with industry frameworks and client requirements. The role involves implementing and monitoring cloud-native security controls, supporting incident response and audit readiness, and embedding security within DevOps and CI/CD practices. The successful candidate will work across technical and compliance functions to help maintain robust governance and protect critical systems.
This role is suited to professionals with experience in cloud security and compliance who thrive in regulated environments and can bridge technical delivery with governance assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure and monitor AWS-native security services including IAM, GuardDuty, Security Hub, KMS, and VPC controls.
- Support incident response activities and coordinate with engineering teams to address security vulnerabilities.
- Manage compliance alignment with standards such as ISO 27001, ISO 22301, and Cyber Essentials Plus.
- Prepare for and support internal and external security audits.
- Integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
- Develop and maintain security monitoring dashboards and reporting mechanisms.
- Provide security advice during solution design, ensuring secure-by-default configurations.
- Promote security awareness across development and delivery teams.
- Support the continuous improvement of policies, controls, and risk management practices.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of AWS security services and configurations.
- Experience with incident response, vulnerability management, and threat detection in cloud environments.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks including ISO standards and Cyber Essentials Plus.
- Ability to embed security into infrastructure-as-code and DevOps practices.
- Skilled in cloud security monitoring, audit preparation, and reporting.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to liaise across technical and governance teams.
Desirable Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience in cloud security or compliance engineering roles.
- AWS Certified Security – Specialty or equivalent certification.
- Prior experience managing security governance in regulated or public sector environments.
- Understanding of secure development practices and DevSecOps principles.
