Children's Locality Social Worker

Our Client is looking for passionate and committed Children's Social Workers to join its ambitious Children's Services team. As a Children's Social Worker, you will manage a varied caseload, undertaking assessments, developing care plans, and delivering effective interventions to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. You will work closely with families and partner agencies to help children remain safe, supported, and able to achieve their full potential.

Whether working with Children in Need, Child Protection, Looked After Children, or Children in Care Proceedings, you will play a vital role in ensuring children receive the right support at the right time.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of children and families, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
  • Undertake statutory assessments, including Child and Family Assessments.
  • Develop and implement outcome-focused care and support plans.
  • Complete Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children work as required.
  • Assess risk and make informed decisions to safeguard children and young people.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, carers, and partner agencies.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, court statements, and assessments.
  • Participate in Child Protection Conferences, Core Groups, and multi-agency meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory guidance, legislation, and council policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case recordings and documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with education, health, police, and voluntary sector partners.
  • Promote strengths-based and relationship-focused social work practice.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Social Work (BA, MA, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England .
  • Experience working within Children's Social Care.
  • Sound knowledge of:
    • Children Act 1989 and 2004
    • Working Together to Safeguard Children
    • Child Protection Procedures
    • Care Planning and Court Processes
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet statutory timescales.
  • Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience within a Locality, Safeguarding, Assessment, or Looked After Children team.
  • Experience of court work and care proceedings.
  • Knowledge of strengths-based and restorative practice models
