Senior Legal Counsel

We are working with the European headquarters of a major global trading and investment group. They are adding a Senior Legal Counsel to their lean London legal team. It is a new role, and one of the broadest in-house positions on the market.

The business trades and invests across the whole supply chain, in a wide range of sectors and jurisdictions across the UK and Europe. You would support it on everything from day-to-day commercial contracts to early-stage deals, investments, governance and compliance, and help shape how the legal function develops, including its use of technology and AI.

The role:

• Advising management and business teams across Europe on commercial trading, investments and strategic projects
• Drafting and negotiating a wide range of contracts and corporate documents
• Supporting corporate governance and company secretarial work
• Compliance work across competition, anti-bribery, data protection and sanctions, including policies and training
• Tracking legal and regulatory developments in the UK and EU and briefing the business.

About you:

• Qualified Lawyer with around 6+ years' PQE, ideally England & Wales qualified
• Strong grounding in corporate M&A or other transactional work at a well-regarded firm, with real drafting and client experience
• Strong Commercial Contracts experience, ideally gained in-house in an international setting
• Experience of cross-border matters
• A clear communicator who can explain legal issues to non-Lawyers
• In-house, regulatory or trading-sector experience is a plus, but not essential.
