Work directly with children and provide a clear and accurate assessment of a child and his/her family’s needs in line with statutory guidance, undertake interviews, observations and gather information from children, families and other agencies as directed by the Team Manager.

On the basis of assessed needs and risks, devise, implement and review care plans, including the development and management of protection plans within a child protection framework.

Manage the caseload as directed and organise and plan work activities prioritising tasks and responsibilities.

Ensure that statutory responsibilities are undertaken for children including visiting children, arranging reviews, reporting to the court, delivering within timescales and meeting any other national and local performance targets.

Provide written and verbal reports, which are concise, informative and based on analysis of complex evidence.

Provide focused and purposeful social work interventions, within a systemic framework with explicit aims and objectives about desired outcomes within the context of managing risk to children.

Work closely with the other practitioners to devise written plans and implement clinical interventions with children and their families, in various settings including family homes.

Organise complex information and produce comprehensive, analytic, high quality reports which make cogent arguments based on the evidence.

Present complex information in writing and person in a range of settings, including with families, foster carers, police, courts and colleagues as requested by the Team Manager.

Establish rapport and build and maintain a professional, respectful and honest relationship with children and their families, to develop trust and assist in safeguarding children and promoting positive and timely outcomes.

Maintain case records and management information on appropriate systems, ensuring that case files are organised and up to date.

Work purposefully with other agencies to promote positive outcomes and ensure an integrated approach, which takes account of the views of other professionals.

Apply research knowledge of social work interventions and statutory guidance to inform social work practice. 14. Deliver services flexibly across different parts the service (as dictated by service need) and within homes, schools or community settings where required.

Must have a recognised Social Work Qualification, be registered with Social Work England and be at least 2 years post qualifying.

36 hours a week with capacity for flexible working to visit children when needed outside of core hours. 2 days in the office, with the remainder used to visit children and attend meetings as required – and some working from home within that when not visiting children or in the office.

Based in Sumner House in Peckham – must be available to come into the office at least 2 days a week. Will also need to travel likely outside of London to visit children who are looked after in homes outside of London

1. Must hold a recognised social work qualification and have

a current registration with the HCPC (Health & Care

Professions Council)


2. Knowledge of childcare legislation, statutory guidance

including that relating to Fostering Services, and the

London Child Protection Procedures.

Experience:

3. Experience of working with children, families and foster

carers in social work settings, effectively as part of a multi-

agency team and completing assessments.

families, and to communicate effectively with children and

young people alongside social care teams and other

agencies to promote positive outcomes for children

5. Ability to maintain case records and record information

appropriately, ability to produce coherent reports with

6. Understanding and knowledge of issues relating to

communities from diverse backgrounds and a commitment

to work anti-oppressively. Align with ‘Social work matters’

and its key principles of openness, transparency,accountability and leadership
