Executive Marketing Manager, Community Engagement

Sage
London

Executive Marketing Manager, Community Engagement – £66,160 - £72,000 – Perm

Join us and be part of a mission-driven, independent publisher. You’ll work with a diverse group of people who share a passion for empowering researchers, educators, and institutions to shape the future.

About Sage:

Sage is a global academic publisher of books, journals, and library resources with a growing range of technologies to enable discovery, access, and engagement. Believing that research and education are critical in shaping society, Sara Miller McCune founded Sage in 1965. Today, we are controlled by a group of trustees charged with maintaining our independence and mission indefinitely.

Our guaranteed independence means we’re free to:

  • Do more – supporting an equitable academic future, furthering disciplines that drive social change, and helping social and behavioural science make an impact

  • Work together – building lasting relationships, championing diverse perspectives, and co-creating resources to transform teaching and learning

  • Think long-term – experimenting, taking risks, and investing in new ideas

About our Team:

At Sage, we believe strong communities generate lasting impact. Within Global Marketing, the Community Engagement team holds a vital role in building meaningful connections with people who develop, share, and apply knowledge across our publishing ecosystem.

Working closely with colleagues across Marketing, Editorial, Portfolio, Product, Sales, and Publishing, the team develops strategies and programs that connect Sage with authors, reviewers, editors, instructors, librarians, societies, practitioners, and professional communities around the world. Together, they help amplify voices, strengthen advocacy, foster collaboration, and ensure community insight builds how we grow our products, services, and business.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team that puts people at the heart of everything Sage does. The team helps us build positive relationships that advance learning, research, and professional practice globally.

Your new role:

As Sage's subject matter expert in community engagement, you will develop central initiatives that support audience growth, improve customer experience, and build our reputation as a trusted partner within the academic and professional communities we serve.

Key outcomes of the role include:

  • Developing and delivering a global community engagement strategy aligned to business goals, audience needs, and portfolio priorities.

  • Crafting impactful programs that increase engagement, advocacy, dedication, and long-term relationships across Sage's key collaborator communities.

  • Building and nurturing strategic partnerships with societies, associations, libraries, professional organizations, and other external collaborators.

  • Using customer insight, community feedback, and performance data to find opportunities, inform strategy, and improve audience experiences.

  • Leading cross-functional initiatives and change programs that contribute to wider marketing and organizational objectives.

  • Collaborating with team members from Marketing, Editorial, Portfolio, Product, Sales, and Publishing to incorporate community viewpoints into strategic decision-making.

  • Leading, developing, and motivating the Community Engagement team, crafting an inclusive, high-performing, and accountable culture.

  • Monitoring and evaluating community engagement activity, ensuring measurable impact, continuous improvement, and effective use of resources and budgets.

Overview of Benefits

  • 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) with 2 additional floating personal days.

  • Hybrid working up to 2 days per week in office and a home working allowance.

  • Life assurance, income protection, and travel insurance.

  • Private medical cover and access to the company doctor.

  • Tuition scheme and support for pursuing professional qualifications, including access to Sage books and journals.
