A high-achieving school in Haringey is looking for a proactive and organised Attendance Officer to join its pastoral and administration team. This is an important role for someone who is confident communicating with families, enjoys working in a busy school environment and is committed to improving pupil attendance and engagement.

The Role

The successful candidate will take responsibility for monitoring and promoting pupil attendance, following up on absences and working closely with families and school staff to address barriers to regular attendance. You will maintain accurate records, identify patterns and support the school’s wider attendance strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

• Monitoring daily attendance and maintaining accurate registers and records.

• Following up on unexplained absences and contacting parents and carers.

• Identifying attendance concerns and patterns of persistent absence.

• Working with pastoral staff and senior leaders to support improvement plans.

• Preparing attendance reports and updating school management systems.

• Supporting meetings with families and relevant external agencies where required.

• Handling sensitive information professionally and confidentially.

• Previous experience in an attendance, administration or pastoral support role.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong organisation and attention to detail.

• Confidence using databases and Microsoft Office.

• A calm, professional and persistent approach to following up concerns.

• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
