Caretaker | Good Primary School | Bexley
We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and experienced Caretaker to join a good-rated primary school in Bexley. This role is essential for maintaining a safe, clean, and secure school environment, allowing staff and students to focus on teaching and learning. The successful candidate will ensure that the school site is well-maintained and operational at all times.
Role Overview:
As Caretaker, you will be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep, security, and general operation of the school site. You will work closely with school leadership and the site team to ensure facilities are safe, welcoming, and compliant with health and safety standards. Your contribution is vital to the smooth running of the school.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain the school buildings and grounds to a high standard, including cleaning, minor repairs, and general upkeep.
Ensure the security of the school site, including locking/unlocking, monitoring alarms, and supervising access.
Assist with the setup and removal of furniture, equipment, and resources for school events or activities.
Report maintenance issues and coordinate with external contractors for repairs or improvements.
Carry out regular health and safety checks, fire safety checks, and site inspections.
Support waste management, deliveries, and storage of school resources.
Respond promptly to site-related emergencies or issues.
Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies.
Skills and Experience:
Previous experience in caretaking, site management, or facilities work, ideally within a school setting.
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond quickly to issues.
Good communication skills to liaise with staff, contractors, and visitors.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of health and safety, fire safety, and site compliance procedures.
Physical capability to carry out manual tasks safely.
