Primary PE Head Sports Coach
Head Sports Coach - Children’s Sports and Activities Provider
£26-30k (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Location: Catford, South East London, covering partner schools and sites across Lewisham and Bromley
Working pattern: 40 hours per week across four and a half days, always with two consecutive days off. Weekend working (mornings only) is preferred, though a Monday to Friday pattern is also available for the right person.
Our client is a much-loved children’s sports and activities provider in South East London, introducing thousands of children aged 2 to 11 to sport every week through PE lessons, after school clubs, weekend classes, parties and Ofsted-registered holiday camps.
They’re looking for a Head Sports Coach to lead high-quality sessions, mentor a team of junior coaches, and help shape how children across Lewisham and Bromley first fall in love with sport by introducing children to sport and providing each child with the opportunity to develop their Fitness, Agility, Balance, Skills and Spatial Awareness and above all else, having fun!
It is their intention that every child that attends one of their classes goes away with a sense of fulfilment and loves physical activity and sport!
On offer is a salary of £26-30k depending on experience, a friendly and supportive team culture with regular socials, and clear progression pathways backed by mentoring and recognised coaching qualifications.
Key responsibilities:
Session delivery: Plan and lead fun, structured sports and PE sessions for children aged 2 to 11 that build coordination, balance, confidence and teamwork.
Clubs, classes and camps: Run weekend sports classes, after school clubs and holiday camps, keeping every session exciting, well organised and safe.
Coach development: Support, mentor and motivate junior coaches, and help train new staff so standards stay consistently high.
Relationships: Build positive relationships with children, parents and school staff, representing the business professionally at every site.
Safeguarding: Uphold safeguarding, health and safety and behaviour expectations across all sessions.
Organisation: Set up, pack away and look after equipment, and travel between the Catford HQ and partner schools.
About you:
Experience: You’ve worked with children in sports coaching or activity-based roles and are confident leading groups.
Independence: You have a strong work ethic and can take responsibility for your sessions and your team without needing close supervision.
Energy: You’re enthusiastic, positive and genuinely passionate about helping young children enjoy being active.
Communication: You’re a clear, friendly communicator with children, parents and school staff alike.
Driving: You must hold a full UK driving licence and have your own vehicle to travel across South East London and Bromley.
Bonus points: A DBS on the update service and a valid paediatric first aid certificate would be a real advantage.
What’s in it for you:
A salary of £26-30k depending on experience, with progression.
Full coaching kit provided.
Enhanced DBS paid for.
First aid and safeguarding training.
Opportunities to gain recognised coaching qualifications.
Clear career development pathways, including leadership responsibilities.
Regular team meetings and social events.
