Research Coordinator - Strand, London, WC2R 2LS
About us:
Neuroimaging at the IoPPN is world-renowned. The Department of Neuroimaging is embedded in the Centre for Neuroimaging Sciences, a joint venture between the IoPPN and the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM). The Centre provides, under one roof, an interdisciplinary research environment that combines the development of high resolution structural, functional and metabolic mapping techniques, with expertise in the definition, diagnosis and treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders.
The research coordinator will join a team that includes experts in industry collaborations, trials, experimental medicine and patient and public involvement. The role requires a skilled operational manager, with the ability to forge effective working relationships with collaborators and interdisciplinary academic teams working on related MHG workstreams.
About the role:
The Research Coordinator will work closely with the wider team to lead day-to-day operations for DIGIT-MHG: working with digital and pharmaceutical industry partners, coordinating funding applications, partner visits, liaising with stakeholders, event and project management
.
The role involves establishing and scaling national operational structures, coordinating key projects, and developing new infrastructure and planning tools. It includes overseeing day‑to‑day staff coordination, maintaining training records, and fostering a strong, collaborative industry‑focused culture. Acting as the central operational contact, the postholder will engage with clinicians, investigators, and business development teams, clearly communicating risks and mitigation strategies. Responsibilities also include developing and monitoring KPIs, producing case studies, and supporting communications teams to maintain an effective external presence. The role requires ongoing process mapping, problem‑solving, and standardising best practices to drive continuous improvement. Additional reasonable duties may be required in line with the grade.
The coordinator will be expected to prioritise the operational workload, allocate resources and take day-to-day decisions, escalating risks and challenges appropriately.
