Legl is building the operating system for modern legal services. We help law firms and regulated businesses replace manual, fragmented workflows with intelligent software — from client onboarding and compliance to payments, risk, and reporting.

Legal work is full of high-stakes decisions, heavy regulation, and deeply human interactions. Unfortunately, the software that supports it has historically been slow, manual, and brittle. We believe it doesn’t have to be that way — and that AI, used thoughtfully and responsibly, can dramatically raise the bar.

We’re looking for a Senior Engineer who is excited by ambiguity, obsessed with impact, and motivated by owning real customer and business outcomes end-to-end.

We are builders. At Legl, the lines between Engineering, Product, and Design are intentionally blurred .

Senior engineers don’t just “implement tickets” — they shape problems, challenge assumptions, talk to customers, make trade-offs, and stay accountable for outcomes over time. Your job isn’t to ship features; it’s to deliver meaningful product and business value quickly.

We work best when:

• Ownership is individual, collaboration is intentional.

• Decisions are shaped early using customer context and evidence

• Feedback is fast and continuous

• Process supports momentum, not the other way around

• You’ll collaborate closely with Product and Design, but you’ll also be expected to independently drive work forward from vague problem statements to shipped solutions to measurable impact.

AI Is Not a Side Project Here

At Legl, AI is a core part of the engineering toolkit , not an experiment or a productivity hack.

We use AI deliberately to:

• Enable engineers and non-engineers to move faster safely

• Push beyond traditional stack boundaries

• Increase leverage and reduce repeated manual work

• Improve decision quality

Strong judgement matters. We care about correctness, safety, and customer trust just as much as speed. Using AI well means knowing when to use it, how to validate outputs, and where human judgement must stay in the loop.

Our Tech Stack:

• We use Python on the back end

• Vue on the front end

We don't expect you to necessarily have experience with this, however we want you to feel confident and OK with using this techstack.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Engineer at Legl, you’ll:

• Own ambiguous, high-impact problem spaces end-to-end across the stack

• Shape problems collaboratively with Product and Design, grounding decisions in real customer evidence

• Build, ship, and iterate with clear accountability for customer and business outcomes

• Use AI, tooling, and automation to create leverage for yourself and others

• Make thoughtful trade-offs between speed, quality, and long-term simplicity

• Actively enable the rest of the company by building tools, patterns, and workflows that help Legl prototype, validate, and ship faster

• You’ll be trusted to make decisions and expected to stand behind them.

This Role Is a Great Fit If…

• You thrive in autonomy and enjoy taking responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks

• You’re product-centric and naturally think in terms of customer value

• You’re comfortable working across the stack and stepping outside your “lane” when needed

• You use AI as a core part of how you think, build, and make decisions, not just a productivity aid

• You value simplicity, testability, and fast feedback

• You enjoy hard problems and continuously look for better ways to build and ship software

This Role Is Not a Great Fit If…

• You need tightly defined tickets, sprint planning, or heavy process to move forward

• You are uncomfortable relying on AI as part of your everyday engineering and decision making

• You prefer implementation-only roles with clear handoffs from PMs and Designers

• You’re uncomfortable with ambiguity or owning decisions end-to-end

• You’re not interested in engaging deeply with customer problems

• You want structure to substitute for ownership
