Job Description

Head of Solution & Platform Architecture - Platform Engineering, DevOps, IaC and CI/CD. Permanent | London W1 – Hybrid, normally 2–3 days per week Up to £160,000 base + up to 30% bonus A major global organisation is looking for an experienced Head of Solution & Platform Architecture to lead and develop its Solution Architecture capability. This is not an Enterprise Architecture governance role and is not intended for an individual-contributor Principal Architect. The successful candidate will have genuinely led and developed a sizeable Solution and/or Platform Architecture function , with accountability for architects, architecture standards, Design Authority and the quality of end-to-end technology solutions. The role will ensure that cloud, infrastructure, applications, integration, data, security and user-facing technology combine into coherent, supportable business solutions. Key responsibilities include: Leading and developing Solution / Platform Architects Architecture standards, capability and Design Authority End-to-end solution and platform architecture Cloud, applications, integration and data modernisation Supporting product-led / Agile delivery Enabling Platform Engineering, DevOps and automation Legacy simplification and technology rationalisation Improving employee, customer and operational user experience through architecture We are looking for: Head / Director-level ownership of a genuine architecture function Direct leadership of a meaningful team of architects Strong breadth across cloud/infrastructure, applications, integration, data and security Major transformation / modernisation experience Product-led and Agile architecture operating models Strong understanding of Platform Engineering, DevOps, IaC and CI/CD Senior stakeholder leadership Clear measurable outcomes from architecture-led transformation Candidates whose experience is mainly Enterprise Architecture governance, consultancy or individual Solution Architecture without sustained people and function ownership are unlikely to fit.
