SO1 WR Establishments
A vacancy has arisen for a Wing Commander (Any Profession) to serve as SO1 Workforce Requirements Establishments at RAF High Wycombe on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of being not before 08 June 2026 (or later subject to candidate status).
Brief description of role:
As SO1 Workforce Requirements Establishments you are part of the RAF Strategic Workforce Planning Team working to Assistant Head Workforce Requirements (OF5). You are responsible for the management of all RAF Regular and Reserve Workforce Establishment (JPANs) to achieve an optimised workforce both in terms of headcount and financial control measures. Working alongside the RAF Workforce Forecasting Teams and the Strategic Workforce Demand and Plans Team you are responsible for controlling the creation amendment and deletion of RAF Workforce Requirement (WR) and supporting the Strategic Org with the management and yearly review of the RAF Force Design. Supporting medium to long-term workforce planning your role ensures the RAF establishment can deliver against Defence Strategic Direction the RAF Command Plan by enabling the groups to have the right number of WR to support new capabilities endorsed in the Strategic Defence Reviews.
Responsibilities:
a. Support Assistant Head Workforce Requirements with the task of recovering workforce balance for all professions by 2030.
b. Management of the Workforce Requirements Arbitration Tribunal to deliver assurance and endorsement variations to existing RAF Reg and Reserve establishment.
c. Provide advice and guidance to Air TLB 2*Business areas on the management of their existing AIR Workforce Requirement.
d. Support the Strat Org Force Design Team within RP to ensure the establishment and workforce headcount are aligned to Defence capabilities.
e. Work alongside DRes Finance Teams to ensure the Workforce Requirement is within the Air TLB control total by managing the establishment to ensure all JPANs are correctly funded.
f. Identify and challenge inconsistencies to existing AIR Workforce Requirement to ensure the Groups and Directives operate within the agreed Military Strategic HQ control totals.
g. Control of Temporary No to WR posts: At risk Temps STPL/AE posts Surplus posts and Med/Geo posts for Air TLB.
h. Promote an inclusive culture working to increase understanding and engagement through education and initiative.
