Job Description:
£32,000 - £40,000 + sales bonus to £6,000, choice of car, lunch allowance, pension, healthcare scheme, 25 days holiday
This major international garden / DIY trade supplier is looking for an Area Sales Manager to cover Suffolk, Essex, Herts, Beds, Bucks and London . Previous experience working in a garden centre or selling to garden centres is essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Regular meetings with Buyers and Dept Managers to assess retail sales performance
- React to challenges and opportunities with improved merchandising, stock locations and retail staff training
- Identify and approach non-stocking garden centres and meet with decision makers to explore sales opportunities
- Build trusting relationships with all existing and prospect customers
- Active participation in trade exhibitions and company events
- Work within the UK sales team – sharing best practice
- Regular meetings with National Sales Manager to update territory sales results

Key Skills/Experience Required:
In order to maximise the success of this role we are looking for a candidate with excellent garden centre knowledge from either a retail or field sales background. Additional skills we seek include:
- Natural people person who builds relationships easily
- High levels of enthusiasm and positive energy
- Good knowledge of garden centre operations – customer journeys, effective store layout, eye-catching merchandising, order processes
- Full driving licence and happy to travel on business as required
- Good IT skills and comfortable using a CRM, Excel, Outlook and Word.
