A-Z of Assistive Technology (on tour)
Support students at the A–Z of Assistive Technology event by helping run the stall, encouraging participation in activities and competitions, and signposting students to relevant services.
Duties and responsibilities
The purpose of the job is to manage student activities at a stall at the A–Z of Assistive Technology event (similar to the Big Hello stall).
Core duties include:
- Help set up the event.
- Encourage students to participate in activities and competitions.
- Help close the stall.
Other duties may include:
- Counting visitors using a counter clicker.
- Covering other stalls for staff members during their breaks.
- Welcoming students.
- Signposting students to other services.
Training and instructions will be provided on the day.
Skills and experience
It is important that the candidate can communicate effectively and can provide clear instructions for activities. It would be useful if candidates have experience of Assistive Technology or keen on digital skills.
Prior experience of running a stall (for example, at the Big Hello) is desirable, though not essential.
Ideally, the candidate:
- Is confident speaking to other students.
- Has good organisational skills.
- Can work well with others.
- Has a positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Is friendly, professional and reliable.
- Has a good understanding of the assistive technology available to students.
- Is comfortable working in a fast-paced setting.
