JOB TITLE Technical Officer – Fuels and Fuels Handling
Who we’re looking for:
Are you interested in supporting the Energy Institute’s collaborative technical programme, working with member companies and wider stakeholders to accelerate a just global transition to net zero. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who demonstrates initiative, attention to detail and can work with a minimum of supervision. A science, or engineering-based degree, experience in stakeholder engagement and good presentation skills would be advantageous, but are not essential.

What you’ll do:
- To support technical projects in the EI’s scientific and technical programme, working under the guidance of Technical Managers.
- To provide secretariat support to technical committees responsible for delivering good practice, working under the guidance of Technical Project Managers.
- To maintain membership of those technical committees and wider stakeholder networks, working under the guidance of Technical Managers.
- To support the Technical Managers in developing a relevant, cost-effective and valued scientific and technical programme.
- To contribute to the fulfilment of the Technical Team’s and EI’s wider business objectives.
- Technical committees of focus include: Aviation (fuel handling) Committee; Hydrocarbon Management Committee (HMC), HMC-1 (Upstream) HMC-2 (Refining and distribution), HMC-3 (Measurement and cargo inspection), HMC-4 (Transportation measurement), HMC-5 (Asian region); HMC-6 (Bio-feedstocks)
The knowledge, experience, and qualifications you need:
Essential:
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Excellent organisational, administrative and multitasking skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent at communicating — written and face to face
Desirable :
- Bachelor's degree in science or engineering; demonstrated relevant work experience in a related field
- Interest and knowledge in the energy sector.
- Experience in working with Stakeholder groups.

Salary: £27,000 – £30,000 per annum depending on experience, plus benefits
