Head of Host Broadcast (Hiring Immediately)
The Head of Host Broadcast is responsible for the operational leadership, planning, readiness and delivery of host broadcast and outside broadcast productions within the markets and productions assigned to the role.
The role provides operational ownership of live production delivery from planning through to execution, ensuring productions are delivered safely, reliably, to the required editorial and technical standard, and in line with agreed budgets, group standards, operating models, procurement requirements and governance.
What You'll Be Doing:
1. Host Broadcast & Outside Broadcast Delivery
- Lead the planning, coordination and operational delivery of host broadcast and outside broadcast productions across the markets and productions within the role’s remit, ensuring events are appropriately prepared, resourced and executed safely, reliably and to the required editorial and broadcast standard.
- Maintain oversight across concurrent productions, prioritising resources and providing senior operational direction where required.
2. Broadcast Readiness, Transmission & Venue Operations
- Oversee broadcast readiness for events, including transmission planning, resilience, backup arrangements, venue infrastructure, compounds, cabling, access, logistics, power and connectivity.
- Identify and escalate material delivery risks and ensure appropriate operational preparation, testing and contingency arrangements are in place ahead of transmission.
3. Production & Editorial Delivery
- Translate editorial ambition and production requirements into practical broadcast delivery requirements, working across Production and relevant operational functions to ensure editorial needs can be delivered effectively and reliably.
- Provide specialist broadcast operational expertise during planning and live delivery, balancing production ambition, resilience, practicality and cost.
4. Supplier, Crewing & Resource Management
- Manage the operational delivery and performance of production, broadcast, crewing and specialist suppliers within approved group supplier and procurement frameworks.
- Oversee the deployment and coordination of Technical Producers, Broadcast Operations staff, freelance and specialist crewing resources, ensuring appropriate capability and resource levels are in place for each production.
5. Budget & Operational Cost Control
- Maintain operational oversight of Host Broadcast production spend at event level, supporting effective budget management through production planning, supplier oversight, scope control and operational decision-making.
- Review event requirements and supplier scopes to identify unnecessary cost, duplication and opportunities for operational efficiency while maintaining required delivery standards.
6. Live Operational Leadership, Incident Management & Duty of Care
- Act as the senior operational escalation point for host broadcast delivery within the role’s remit, including live production, supplier, venue and transmission issues, supporting rapid decision-making and effective resolution during productions.
- Ensure appropriate operational Health & Safety and duty-of-care considerations are incorporated into outside broadcast delivery, including safe site operations, crew welfare and fatigue, contractor compliance and event-specific operational risk within DAZN’s established policies and responsibilities.
7. Major Events, New Rights & Mobilisation
- Support the assessment, mobilisation and delivery of major events, new rights and changing broadcast requirements within the role’s assigned markets, providing operational planning, information, analysis and resource assessment to support wider business evaluation and decision-making.
- Lead detailed Host Broadcast planning and implementation within the agreed production, operational and commercial framework.
8. Governance, Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Provide operational leadership across Technical Producers, Broadcast Operations staff, freelancers and delivery partners within the role’s remit, coordinating effectively with Production and relevant Group functions across multiple events.
- Ensure delivery remains aligned with group standards, approved operating models, procurement requirements and governance controls. Lead or contribute to post-event reviews, lessons learned, supplier performance review, broadcast issue analysis and process improvement, using operational insight to support continuous improvement.
What You'll Bring:
- Significant senior experience in live sports broadcasting, host broadcast, outside broadcast or comparable live production environment, with demonstrable experience leading complex live productions from planning through to transmission.
- Strong specialist understanding of live broadcast production and delivery, including outside broadcast workflows, cameras, audio, communications, replay, graphics, connectivity, contribution, transmission, resilience and venue infrastructure.
