Norton Rose Fulbright LLP
London

Practice Group / Department: Energy, Infrastructure & Natural Resources Leadership - London

Job Description

We're Norton Rose Fulbright - a global law firm with over 50 offices and 7,000 employees worldwide. We provide the world’s preeminent corporations and financial institutions with a full business law service. At Norton Rose Fulbright, our strategy and our culture are closely entwined. We know that our expansion will mean little unless it is underpinned by truly global collaboration and we understand that pioneering work only takes place when our people have room to move and think beyond boundaries. As well as the relevant skills and experience, we're looking for people who are innovative, commercial and value the work that they do.

The Team

Our preeminent global projects team has extensive experience in project finance structures around the world, representing lenders, sponsors, developers, institutional investors, contractors and operators in major domestic and cross-border financings.

The Role

As a Projects Lawyer (3PQE+) at Norton Rose Fulbright, you will play a critical role in advising on and managing complex, high-value projects. You will work alongside clients in both the private and public sectors, providing legal expertise across a wide range of project types, including infrastructure, construction, energy, and more. Your role will focus on ensuring legal, regulatory, and contractual compliance, as well as managing risk and fostering strong relationships between all project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and advise on large-scale, multi-faceted projects, ensuring comprehensive legal, contractual, and regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex and bespoke contracts, ensuring clarity, precision, and alignment with clients' strategic goals.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, project teams, contractors, and third-party advisors, maintaining clear and open lines of communication to manage and mitigate risk.
  • Navigate the legal complexities of the procurement process, providing sound legal counsel and strategic advice to safeguard clients' interests.
  • Manage and resolve any disputes or issues that arise during the course of a project, applying effective dispute resolution strategies.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Strong academic background in law, with a thorough understanding of commercial and project law.
  • Proven experience in managing and advising on large, complex projects, particularly in sectors such as construction, energy, infrastructure, or public-private partnerships.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and a keen eye for detail, enabling you to draft and manage contracts with precision and clarity.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines, delivering high-quality legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience in navigating the intricacies of procurement processes and advising on best practices for contract management and compliance.
